Accreditation Scheme All Domestic Energy Assessors must be
registered with an approved accreditation scheme in order to be able to register
Energy Performance Certificates.
Asset Skills The sector skills council for the
property, facilities management, housing and cleaning industries. Its remit is to
improve and develop skills in these sectors .
C.R.B. The Criminal Records Bureau . All Energy Assessors are thoroughly
checked by the Bureau and issued with a certificate before accreditation can
be approved and issued .
DEA Domestic Energy Assessor. The name given to individuals who can
produce EPCs for existing dwellings, other than Home Inspectors.
DCLG Department of Communities and Local Government, the Government
department responsible for implementation of both the HIP and the EPBD in
England and Wales.
EPBD Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which amongst other
things requires the provision of EPCs whenever buildings are constructed,
sold or rented out.
EPC Energy Performance Certificate, the mandatory energy efficiency
assessment component of the HIP. These will be compiled by DEAs and
Home Inspectors.
HCR Home Condition Report, a component of the HIP, which on the
18 July 2006 was made a voluntary component of the HIP
(previously it had been mandatory).
HIP Home Information Pack, was introduced in England and Wales on
14th December 2007 for residential properties.
